“On The Contour” Practices like Sediment Barriers (Silt Fence) and Slope Breaks are often placed on the contour to pond runoff and allow coarse particles to settle from suspension. If the installation is not ponding water, it’s not on the contour. Remember, contour lines on the ground are seldom straight lines.
